Coronation Street has confirmed the future of four major stories which are ongoing in Weatherfield, with a new trailer – which can be viewed below – being released ahead of the festive season. As the drama continues, what will the resolutions be?

One key character will be Todd Grimshaw, who has found himself in the middle of an abusive relationship with Theo Silverton. The latter has sought to separate his partner from his loved ones, and the plan begins to work later this year.

Todd will find himself in a mental battle as he is plagued by negative thoughts. Theo’s relentless manipulation will lead him to push his family and friends away, including boss George. In the short trailer, George tells him: “You’re not fit purpose”, and informs Todd he is being stood down at work. As Todd reaches breaking point, will he be saved from Theo?

Also having a tough time are Shona and David Platt, who today discovered that their unborn child has a mass on their neck. Shona is subsequently booked into a follow-up appointment with a consultant, and is worried about her child’s health.

This precedes a special instalment on Wednesday (12 November), in which the couple will be front and centre as their individual perspectives are shown. Later in the year, there will be friction in the marriage due to the situation, but can they get through it?

Abi Webster is also having some relationship problems following her separation from Kevin, with new flame Carl hardly proving reliable since they went public with their controversial romance.

As she tries to smooth out her break-up with Kevin, Abi is clearly not happy with Carl as his attentions turn elsewhere. Is she beginning to realise that she has made a mistake, or will she stick it out with Carl?

Finally, Carla Connor and Becky Swain will be at loggerheads as they both strive to win the heart of Lisa, with the clip showing Carla grabbing Becky by the collar. Becky, who returned from the dead recently, has been attempting to win her wife back, but Carla has been resolute in maintaining her bond with Lisa.

Becky will ramp up the manipulation as she plays to both Lisa and daughter Betsy, leaving Carla fearing that her relationship could be over. Will Lisa fall for Becky’s act, or will she see through it and choose Carla once and for all?
